Six-Speed Manual

Shift into high gear with Cherokee Sport’s smooth shifting fully synchronized six-speed manual transmission.* The new close-ratio six-speed provides a wide spread of gear ratios for maximum acceleration, fuel economy and overall performance. Hard-finished gears allow for quiet operation.

Five-Speed Automatic

The five-speed automatic transmission, standard on the 2.8L turbo diesel engine, provides world class efficiency and fuel economy. The broad ratio spread between first and fifth gears helps minimize fuel consumption and also reduces engine noise while cruising.

Four-Speed Automatic

Standard on both Cherokee Sport and Cherokee Limited is the smooth-shifting four-speed automatic transmission.

The advanced four-speed transmission uses fully adaptive electronic control for exceptionally smooth shifting. Push the TOW / HAUL button next to the shifter for improved vehicle performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. The TOW / HAUL mode inhibits fourth gear and allows upshifts to third gear during higher speed / lighter loads.
