Cherokee’s standard four-wheel disc Antilock Brake System (ABS) with brake assist and traction control helps prevent wheel lockup for improved steering under extreme braking and slippery conditions, and aids in trail driving when in available four-wheel-drive 4LO mode (when properly equipped). ABS modulates the brakes to reduce stopping distances and improve steering control under braking.

Because all roads aren’t paved or smooth, Cherokee’s four-wheel antilock brake system has a unique rough road detection system that has a special program to assist Cherokee’s stopping performance on gravel or dirt roads.

In a panic brake condition, Cherokee’s Brake Assist system applies maximum braking power, providing the shortest possible stopping distance.
