Jeep Grand Cherokee Powertrain

The Jeep® Grand Cherokee is re-imagined and re-engineered to perform heroically in all driving conditions and environments. With a choice of either the 3.6-litre Pentastar™ V6 engine, 5.7-litre HEMI® V8 engine, or 3.0-litre CRD turbo diesel V6 engine, the all-new Grand Cherokee will power all of your adventures.

The all-new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine delivers 210 kW at 6,350 rpm and 347 N.m of torque at 4,300 rpm. The combination of double overhead camshafts (DOHC), Variable Value Timing (VVT), a variable displacement oil pump and high-flow intake and exhaust ports on this high-tech masterpiece translates into an exceptionally flat torque curve. In fact, 90 percent of the peak torque is available from 1,600 to 6,400 rpm, resulting in a smooth, responsive driving experience.

The legendary 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine with Multi-Displacement System (MDS) is available for the ultimate performance minded driver. It now delivers 259 kW at 5,200 rpm and 520 N.m of torque at 4,200 rpm and features Variable Valve Timing (VVT) for increased performance, efficiency and torque for towing. The 5.7-litre engine's fuel-saving MDS deactivates four cylinders during steady speed or low acceleration conditions, increasing fuel efficiency and driving range without sacrificing vehicle performance.

The all-new 3.0-litre CRD turbo diesel engine produces 177 kW at 4,000 rpm with 550 Nm of torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm. This translates to 10 percent more power and eight percent more torque than the engine it replaces. Even with its improved performance, fuel economy for the new 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine is 8.3 L/100km on the combined cycle, an improvement of 19 percent over the prior diesel engine.

Grand Cherokee comes with two available transmissions — smooth shifting multi-speed overdrive transmission - standard with the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 engine, or the electronically-controlled five-speed automatic transmission - standard with the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine and 3.0-litre CRD diesel engine.


Five-speed Auto

The proven five-speed W5A580 automatic transmission delivers smooth shifts and optimum fuel economy thanks to its adaptive electronic control, Electronic Range Select (ERS) driver-interactive manual control and electronically modulated torque converter clutch. The all-new gated shifter and ERS feature allows the driver to manually select the top transmission gear range.




Six-speed Auto

The 65RFE six-speed automatic transmission is mated to the available 5.7-litre HEMI engine.


Prevent Pedal Bobble

Grand Cherokee's Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system help prevent the "pedal bobble" that often occurs when in 4WD-low mode. ETC's special off-road calibrations help the driver to "feather in" the throttle over uneven terrain, logs and rocks. The difference is night and day.
