The Jeep® brand resonates with consumers around the world as global sales increase to highest point in over 75-year history with 1.41 million units sold worldwide for 2016. Strategic launches of the all-new Grand Cherokee, Renegade and Compass vehicles.
Weathering a Storm to New Heights
The Chrysler Corporation was hit hard by the automotive crisis of 2008-2010. After merging with Fiat S.p.A in 2008, Chrysler repaid its obligations in the bailout to the U.S. government in 2011 as part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Fiat S.p.A purchased the Chrysler Group in 2014 for $3.65 billion and was renamed FCA US LLC, to reflect the Fiat-Chrysler merger. The Jeep brand is going global in sales and saw record profits after the introduction of many new vehicles including the Jeep Cherokee (KL), Jeep Renegade (BU) and Jeep Compass (MP).
Passion for Greatness
2014-PRESENT JEEP® CHEROKEE (KL)
The All-New 2014 Jeep® Cherokee replaced the Liberty – promising to redefine the midsize segment. The Jeep brand dug back and tapped into the Cherokee name for launch for this forward-thinking vehicle. Cherokee introduced four models in 2014: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trail Rated® Trailhawk®.
The progressive Cherokee redefines the midsize segment with Best-in-Class 4x4 capability, a fresh appearance, outstanding efficiency, uncommon versatility and refined manners for everyday use.
The rugged Trailhawk is styled, equipped, and engineered to take capability in this segment to new heights. Cherokee Trailhawk has Best-in-Class 4x4 Capability thanks to a lifted off-road suspension with skid plates, tow hooks, Selec-Terrain® traction control, Jeep Active Drive Lock with rear locker, Selec-Speed Crawl Control with 56:1 crawl ratio and aggressive approach, departure and breakover angles.
The new modern, progressive and aerodynamic design helped the Jeep brand move into the next era with global appeal defined by its efficient shape and signature Jeep brand DNA.
Setting a benchmark for the industry, the Cherokee was the first mid-size SUV to offer as standard a nine-speed automatic transmission on all trims. The All-New 3.2L Pentastar® V6 and 2.3L Tigershark MultiAir® 2 engines dramatically improved efficiency and refinement.
2015-PRESENT JEEP® RENEGADE (BU)
Fresh styling for the small SUV market
The All-New 2015 Jeep® Renegade marked the brand’s first entry into the small SUV market. It launched as the most capable small SUV ever+. Jeep Brand designers took many cues from the iconic Wrangler with its legendary seven-slot grille, round headlamps and upright stance.
Fresh new styling was infused with classic military themes including an “X” motif from the gas cans that were associated with Willys MB vehicles from WWII.
The Renegade was designed in America, crafted in Italy and sold in over 100 countries across the globe. Its “small-wide 4x4 architecture” combined Best-in-Class 4x4 Capability along with an available Class-Exclusive disconnecting rear axle and low-rangle Power Transfer Unit (PTU). The system was designed to only engage when 4x4 traction was needed.
The Renegade Trailhawk® was designed to take on the trails. It came standard with Jeep Active Drive Low with a 20:1 crawl ratio and the Selec-Terrain® traction management system.
The Renegade was equipped with the world’s first nine-speed automatic transmission for the small SUV class and an industry-exclusive, available My Sky® dual-panel roof offering open-air freedom.
The Renegade featured a number of technologies once found only on upper-segment vehicles-including award-winning Uconnect touchscreens and the full-color instrument cluster. The vehicle over 70 advanced standard and available safety and security features.
2017-PRESENT JEEP® COMPASS (MP)
An All-New hero is born
The All-New Jeep® Compass was completely redesigned inside and out. The Compass provides a capable on- and off-road crossover at a reasonable price. It fills the void from the previous Compass and Patriot (MK) platform vehicles. Compass vehicles are produced in four plants in Brazil, China, India and Mexico for a global market.
Compass features FCA’s “small wide 4x4 architecture” that combines best-in-class capability with exceptional on-road driving dynamics. The authentic Jeep exterior styling includes an open-air dual-pane sunroof.
Two advanced intelligent 4x4 systems are available, each of which can sent 100 percent of available torque to any one wheel: Jeep Active Drive and Jeep Active Drive Low with 20:1 crawl ratio. The Trailhawk model is Trail Rated® and includes Selec-Terrain® with Rock mode along with Selec-Speed Control and Hill-Descent Control.
